What are you doing now?

I am currently the Executive Director/CEO of Comprehensive Community Solution Inc., not for profit that is similar to Community Action.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A teacher.

How did LDA help you on your journey?

Helped me see other perspectives in the community. Helped me with my connections in Rock County. Helped see all the cool things and organizations that exist in Rock County.

What piece of advice would you give a new LDA participant?

Trust the process.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Read.

LDA, Illinois YouthBuild Coalition, The Workforce Connection Manager Council, 7th Ward City Council meetings.

When you reflect on your LDA experience, what is your fondest memory? Scariest memory?

Fondest memory is Active Shooter Training. It was informative and well put together.

Scariest memory: Trusting my team to catch me in a fall at OWLS Leadership Academy.

Future goal or dream:

I am thinking about politics in my future. Maybe Alderman in Rockford, Illinois or Mayor.

Any regrets?

None.

Why have you stayed involved with LDA?

I love the work that LDA does.

What was your LDA project? How did it impact your experience with LDA or in life?

Created a book exploring different careers in English and Spanish. I loved it and it showed me that it is easier than I thought to write a book.

If you could choose a community project or need to help out with today, what would it be and why?

The community need that I continue to work on is insuring that there are opportunities for at risk youth to tap into their full potential and benefit their selves, families, and communities.

Who do you look up to as a community leader/mentor?

Former President Barack Obama. I have a picture with him.

How has LDA prepared you or your business for COVID? Any stories you would like to share with us?

Do you know of any new non-profits that might need community support now?

Yes. Mine, but we are not located in Rock County. :(
